West End Residence
Located in the heart of West End, our brief for this quintessential Queenslander was a minimalist style that wouldn’t compete with the existing architecture. To do this, we took design inspiration from architect John Pawson. Drawing on his simplicity, we used a paired-back colour palette and stark lines to separate the character of the house from it’s furnishings. West End is known for its quirky character so it was important that some of the eccentricities of the original owners were retained (such as the ornate pendant lighting in the formal lounge and dining rooms). Another feature of the formal lounge is the bespoke built-in fireplace, clad in Carrara marble tiles and finished with a solid timber mantel.
